Any "Star Wars" fan will recognize this beauty. This is Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from the first "Star Wars" film.
It's been 30 years since I first saw "Star Wars" and I haven't been the same since.
This prop is a great example of using found items for new purposes. The basis of this (and other lightsabers) was a vintage camera flash. The body is a Graflex camera flash from one of those great press
cameras from the 1950's. To this was added strips of windshield wipers for the grips, a D-ring at the base and the LED magnifying lens from an old calculator along the clamp in the middle. That's it! |

And as simple as that was, it still looks cool to this day. This replica was built with a genuine Graflex but the other parts are
contemporary recreations. This lightsaber is a favorite of both me and my son. |
